The FII Level 1 Freediving course is your introduction into the world of Freediving! “Whether a complete beginner or an informally trained freediver/spearfisherman with years of experience, this course will set you on the right path to eliminate bad habits and show you the most efficient and safe freedive techniques.”
This course will teach you the fundamentals of the FII education system in an easy-to-learn course format operating between the classroom, confined water and open water settings. Safety and comfort being a priority, students master the proper skills to effectively dive up to depths of 66 feet/20 meters.
Students must already be competent confident swimmers
Two day course, three sessions:
Classroom, Confined Water, Open Water
What will this course cover?
Level 1 Safety & Problem Management Freediving Equipment (use, care, and proper selection) Physics and Physiology for the Level 1 Freediver (what is going on in the underwater environment and how our bodies adapt to it) - Freediving Technique Development - Correct Breathing for Freediving - Breathing and Breath-Hold Technique Development - Equalization Techniques - Open Water Rescue skills All students will receive a Level 1 Freediver Course Manual and Certification card after successful completion of the course As a FII Level 1 Freediver you will use the following equipment:
• Mask • Snorkel • Fins • Weightbelt and weights • Wetsuit • Timing device
Minimum age 16 years of age Under 18 needs parental consent
About the Instructor:
Michael Jutt is a professional diver and Ocean Safety Officer on the infamous North Shore of Oahu. As a Rescue Jet Ski operator, Jutt is an expert emergency responder in Hawaii. With nearly 10 years of competitive spearfishing experience in Hawaii and abroad, he has been featured in Hawaii Skin Diver, La'waia Magazine, Spearing Magazine, Spearfishing Down Under, as well as appearing on Discovery Channel's Shark Week. With a decade of freediving Hawaii's best dive spots, he can adapt his instruction to all forms of ability and learning styles as well as weather conditions, and looks forward to sharing his passion with fellow ocean lovers.
